A sales funnel is a marketing tool that tracks your prospective customers’ journey
from awareness to conversion. This is a great way to understand and improve your
marketing strategy, sales performance, and customer loyalty metrics. Whether you
use an online or offline sales process, it’s important to define your goals and track
the key metrics of your funnel. This will help you improve your customer experience
and ultimately achieve success.
All sales funnels start with attracting potential customers to your brand. This is
commonly done with a lead magnet, like a free trial or ebook in exchange for
contact information. After attracting visitors, your business will work to convert
these prospects into leads by providing more educational content that addresses
their needs. This may be in the form of blog articles, social media updates, or email
outreach campaigns. The goal of this stage is to educate your audience about your
product and establish trust.
Your prospects are now aware of their needs and will begin researching different
solutions. This is known as the middle of the funnel (MOFU). At this point, they are
looking at features, benefits, and prices. They will also be evaluating different
solution types such as cloud vs on-premise solutions. For example, if you are selling
a support software solution to companies with in-house support teams, your
prospect might want to know the advantages of cloud versus on-premise systems or
compare pricing models.
In the final stage, your prospects are ready to make a decision and purchase your
product or service. This is where a strong sales team can really shine. They can
answer any final questions and address any concerns that the prospect might have.
They can even make a proposal and negotiate with the prospect to get the deal over
the line.
If you are struggling to grow your business, it could be because of a leaky sales
funnel. To fix this, you will need to evaluate your value proposition, messaging, and
CTAs. A/B testing your landing pages, social media posts, emails, and other content
will be a great way to find the best strategies that convert prospects into customers.
With the right tools, you can create a sales funnel that is optimised for modern
marketing and conversions. You can eliminate manual research, admin and cold
calling by using buyer intent data and sales trigger events to identify high-quality
prospects, then automate follow-ups that deliver the right message at the right time.
This will reduce time to conversion, ensure leads are always engaged, and make it
easier for your sales team to close deals.
